At the taxi rank
How to use the card
- Show the card before you get in. Hold it up at the window so the driver can say yes or no before the meter starts.
- Point at the address. The address is the line the driver needs. The place name helps them recognise it.
- Use the phone line if they hesitate. Drivers often call the place to ask for the entrance; the card asks them to.
- Turn to the back-to-hotel side for the ride home. Your hotel's Chinese name and address are already on it.
Before you ride
Get the address right
- Use the address in Chinese characters. The card cannot translate an English address for you.
- For stations and airports, include the terminal or the station name, for example 虹桥站 or 浦东机场 T2.
- Check the address in a Chinese map app before you leave; the card shows what you typed.
FAQ
What does the card say in Chinese?
It asks the driver to take you to the place, shows the place name and the Chinese address in large type, and adds the lines you tick: use the meter, give a receipt, you do not speak Chinese, you have luggage, how you can pay. An optional back side asks to be taken back to your hotel.
Why does it need the Chinese address?
Drivers navigate by the Chinese address, and many cannot read an English one. Copy it from your booking, the hotel's own page or a Chinese map app. The card warns you if the address has no Chinese characters.
Do I need this if I use a ride-hailing app?
The app already sends the destination to the driver. The card is for street taxis, airport and station taxi ranks, and the moment a driver asks you again where you are going.
Is the card free?
Building the card and the preview are free. A one-time unlock (US$4.99) removes the preview watermark; change the destination and save it again for every trip. Full refund on request within 7 days.
Is anything I type sent to your server?
No. The card and the saved image are made in your browser. Your hotel details are kept only in this browser so your other cards can reuse them.
