Short answer
Maglev is fun and fast for the airport segment, but it is not a hotel transfer. For many first-time arrivals, taxi, Didi, or a pre-booked transfer is the better first-night decision.
The Maglev only solves the airport-to-Longyang Road segment and its last airport departure is 21:42; by the time most late arrivals clear passport control and baggage it has finished.
You get the fast airport segment and the transfer stays manageable if your hotel is on the right corridor.
